To make some comparisons by age, I took the respondents who answered the age question and split them between those 25 or younger (N=281) and those 26 or older (N=130). Note these were out of all the respondents total, not those of any particular identity.
Here were some noticeable differences about where they connect with people online:
- Facebook is used by a higher percentage of respondents 26+ (25.4%) than <25 (9.6%)
- Pillowfort is used by a higher percentage of respondents 26+ (17.7%) than <25 (4.3%)
- Twitter is used by a higher percentage of respondents 26+ (40%) than <25 (18.5%)
- WordPress is used by a higher percentage of respondents 26+ (14.6%) than <25 (4.6%)
The rate of Tumblr users is about the same, but noticeably more of the <25 respondents were recruited from Tumblr (44.3%) than were the 26+ respondents (36.2%).
Here are some observations about where these two groups reported connecting with quoiromantic, quoisexual, or quoigender people:
- Tumblr was the most commonly reported answer for both 26+ (32.5%) and <25 (30.5%)
- Discord was also a common answer for both 26+ (19.8%) and <25 (18.9%)
- Reddit was reported more by <25 (18.9%) than by 26+ (7.9%)
- Pillowfort was reported more by 26+ (14.3%) than by <25 (3.6%)
Setting age aside, I was also interested in the ratio at which people reported connecting with people on a site vs. connecting with quoi people specifically. So I divided the latter by the former to calculate what I decided to call each site’s “quoi connection ratio.” Based on the full pool of respondents (N=428), here is each site’s quoi connection ratio:
- AVEN (0.43)
- Arocalypse (0.55)
- Discord (0.28)
- Facebook (0.08)
- Instagram (0.06)
- Pillowfort (0.79)
- Reddit (0.40)
- Tumblr (0.54)
- Twitter (0.25)
- WordPress (0.51)
- Other (0.16)
To reiterate from the All Responses page:
A majority of respondents connect with people online on Discord (67.3%) and Tumblr (54.9%). Many respondents participate on at least one of the platforms listed — only very few selected “None of these” (3.3%). However, when it comes to connecting with quoiromantic, quoisexual, or quoigender people, the most common answer was “None of these” (40.8%).
